Management of Non Company Car Drivers
More companies are offering a cash alternative to the traditional company funded
vehicle. There are normally few guidelines on age and type of vehicle allowed under
such schemes. There is also little or no direct management of these vehicles and
subsequently any information available as to whether they have been suitably maintained
by the employee.
As a business you are still potentially liable for any incidents that arise from
an employee using their own car for business purposes, as this still falls under
the Health And Safety At Work Act.
Do you know how many of your opt-out drivers cheat on business insurance? A recent
survey confirmed 4 out of 10 opt-out drivers using their own cars on employers’
business are not insured for work.
Due to numerous requests from Fleet Managers who correctly view this as an integral
part of their company's "Duty of Care", we have designed a service to tighten up
this grey area. This includes checking that employees, who do use their own car
for business purposes, have the right level of private motor insurance cover.
